The same but different

Using platular technology, Barriquand’s unique heat exchangers are known for their versatility, and are very useful for difficult liquids. These heat exchangers are good for liquid-to-liquid applications with a high amount of extraneous matter – that is, where the liquids carry solids – where normal day-to-day running may mean the machine quickly fouls up, such as in a pulp & paper mill. There are a wide range of industries that can use this technology, including chemical, petrochemical, pharmaceutical, and food.

They’re also useful for condensation of low-pressure vapours or VOC. Multistream units can be supplied.

Cleaning

Barriquand units are welded, but they can be taken apart for cleaning. This means they still work in places where a shell and tube heat exchanger or normal plate heat exchanger might struggle. Combined with the ease of access via the front and back hinged doors, the Barriquand’s wide-gap intelligent plate design makes these platular heat exchangers extremely easy to clean. A high-pressure lance can be inserted and used to clean, reducing downtime at a plant. Examples of this are in a pulp and paper mill, or at a biodiesel producer.

Size and output

Because these units are based on platular technology, they are very compact but can still carry solids. Compared to a normal plate and shell heat exchanger, they are reduced in size, while still able to work with solids, and sometimes at much higher temperatures.

Their compact size gives them advantages in terms of volume and in their footprint.
